Food for Purpose

A virtual placement for a dietician to address health inequalities by empowering minority groups to lead healthier lives.

Food for Purpose (FFP) is a dietitian led community interest company established in November 2017. Our vision is to be a leading organisation in the field of health and wellbeing for the family, by sharing evidence-based nutritional information to empower them make healthy choices around food and lifestyle.
FFP seeks, in particular, to have a positive impact on Black and Asian minority ethnic (BAME) faith groups and communities. We deliver faith-based, faith-placed nutrition programmes and community wellbeing events for BAME communities. We also work with local councils to deliver bespoke culturally relevant nutrition programmes, menu analysis and cooking classes as well as research and insight development.

A dietitian student on placement with us could be involved in a range of projects including:
-Lay education for community groups
-Menu planning / analysis
-Data collation e.g anthropometric measures
-Development of online health campaigns
-Design and development of local resources for BAME communities
-Support communications to key stakeholders
-Liaison with charities and voluntary sector actors
-Research projects
